After a long and tiring pregnancy, we welcomed our little girls into the world on December 26, 2010 (Sunday) at 35 weeks 3 days. We were able to enjoy a nice Christmas dinner at the Looney’s before deciding it was time to visit the hospital later that evening. The girls were born at 3:39 am and 3:42 am. Myra Audrey was named after Doug’s maternal Grandmother (Myra) and my paternal Grandmother (Audrey). She weighed 4 pounds 14 ounces. Brynn Eleanor was chosen because we liked the name, Brynn, and also my maternal Grandmother’s middle name (Eleanor). She was 4 pounds 12 ounces. Both girls were 18 3/4 inches. We are already wondering about personalities as Brynn was initially labeled as Baby A in my belly, but Myra pushed her way to the front position a few weeks before delivery.Because the girls were born a few weeks early (full term for twins is 37 weeks), they were cautious and kept them monitored for a day or two to make sure they were keeping their own body temps, consistent heartbeats, breathing properly, etc. So we weren’t able to have them in our room, but could visit them in the nursery. I was released from the hospital on Monday evening and we weren’t sure when the girls would be able to join us at home. Fortunately, each test and hurdle that they needed to pass, they did. They were able to join us at home on Wednesday, January 29 in the afternoon. Our biggest task currently is feeding them every three hours, maintaining while slowly increasing their weights, and keeping them away from all of the cold germs going around. We feel very blessed and fortunate that the girls didn’t need to be in the hospital for a few weeks once we left.
I’ve posted a few (sorry…there are a lot!) of Christmas photos! Enjoy.
